Master

By Nwachukwu Egbunike

My good old friend

Feared most, yet ever merciful

Fair justice in an unjust realm

Strikes the crown and spade

Squash both strong and weak

Spares neither the silvery nor dark haired

Like a king

You amble majestically

When and where it pleases you

For some you are accursed

For others you liberate

Either way you care not

Immortal presence

Makes the absence easier to bear

Hope bursts out

My good old friend

Master of all

End of emptiness
